CanSkate

(learn to skate program: stages 1-6 & pre-CanSkate)

Canskate is Skate Canada's learn to skate program that is designed as a program for beginners and introductory skaters of all ages. The program focus is on fun, participation and the development of the basic skills in skating.
Canskate for children is our club's feeder system into our Rising Stars and STARSkate Academy programs.

powerskate

This is an action-packed, high energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. Skills, techniques and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations.

Pre-power: Early program for developing basic skills

LEARN TO FIGURE


RISING STARS ACADEMY

(accelerated Stage 3-6)

Rising Stars Academy is an introduction to the figure skating program. Children receive high level coaching in a group format to learn the founding stages of how to figure skate. Entry to this program is by invitation and audition. Prospective new members are welcome, but must contact the office manager for an audition before registering.
Ages: 4-7 as of July 1st 


JUNIOR

(Star 1-3)

Entrance into the program is “by invitation only.” Skaters are talent-identified and selected from our Rising Stars and CanSkate program. Potential Junior Development participants are invited to a trial session to be assessed by a Club Coach. Successful candidates will be awarded an official invitation to the program and information regarding program registration.

Ages: 6-10 must not have reached 11 as of July 1st 


STARSKATE ACADEMY

(accelerated Stages 3-6 & Star 1-3)

STARSkate Academy is an introduction to the figure skating program. It is designed for older children to learn the founding stages of how to figure skate. Entry to this program is decided by our coaches. Prospective new members are welcome, but must contact the office manager for an audition before registering.
Ages: 7-13 must not have reached 13 as of July 1st 


FIGURE SKATING


STARSKATE PATHWAY

Skaters will explore new skills as they build on the solid basics of figure skating that they achieve as they progress through the ‘Learn to Train’ and ‘Train to Train’ stages of the Long Term Development (LTD) model.

Levels: Star 4-10 & Gold


PODIUM PATHWAY

Podium Pathway is for Athletes who want to pursue higher levels of figure skating. This pathway aligns with the ‘Train to Train’, ‘Train to Compete’ and ‘Train to Win’ stages of the LTD model and is also called the High-Performance Pathway.

Levels: Juvenile, Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior, Senior


COMPETITIVE

Competitive training is for Athletes who are representing Coquitlam Skating Club at the provincial stage for competitions in the likes of Sectionals, BC Winter Games, Canada Winter Games, Nationals and beyond.

Youth/ADULT FIGURE SKATING

Skating is a fun form of exercise for all ages. We welcome figure skaters 13 years of age and over who are not in CompetitiveSkate to improve their skills, pursue tests, and train for Adult and STARSkate competitions in a fun and friendly environment.  Members of any Skate Canada club are welcome to register or drop in.

These supplemental programs help figure skaters develop specific fitness and technical requirements for excelling in the sport.  Coaches will assist intermediate and higher level skaters in choosing the relevant programs for their goals.
