Dear Skaters and Coaches,

Welcome to the 2021 Belairdirect Skate Canada BC/YK Sectional Championships . This email contains important information for the competition being held December 10 -13, 2020 at Scotia Barn in Burnaby BC. Please read the entire email carefully.

The competition schedule as of November 4, 2020 has been posted on the www.skatinginbc.com website.

Starting orders will be posted on the www.skatinginbc.com website on no later than Tuesday December 8.

A detailed competition schedule will be posted on the www.skatinginbc.com website by Wednesday December 9. The detailed competition schedule will show the times when skaters/coaches are able to enter and must exit the facility.

There is no official practice ice and skaters may practice at any location between their short and free program.

Skaters and coaches are to arrive at the entrance of the rink and wait for the dressing room attendant to take the group to their designated warm up area. There will be a sign outside the entrance of Scotia Barn where skaters and coaches can wait for the dressing room attendant to arrive.

Skaters can enter the rink 60 minutes before their competition flight is scheduled to go on the ice for their on ice warm up. We ask all skaters to be on time when arriving at the entrance to enter the rink.

Once skaters have arrived at the rink, they will be taken to the indoor soccer field or the upstairs banquet room where they can do their off ice warm up. The warm up area will be divided into 6 areas for each skater to have their own warm up area. No food or drink, other than water, will be allowed in the warm up areas.

30 minutes before their competition flight is scheduled to go on the ice, skaters will be moved from the warm up area to their designated dressing room.

The dressing rooms that will be used for the competition are Dressing Room 2 & 3 at the indoor soccer field beside Rink 8. They will be clearly marked for use. Skaters and coaches are only permitted in the dressing room assigned

Skaters and coaches are to physical distance from each other the entire time in the Scotia Barn Building.

There will be markings on the ground to show where coaches are to stand while coaching at the boards and where skaters are to line up to go on the ice for their warm up.

Skaters and coaches must complete the Scotia Barn Daily Screening Questionnaire each day before entering the facility.

Please click here to complete the Scotia Barn Daily Screening.

Participants are not allowed to participate if they:

· Exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms, such as a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by health experts.

· If you or someone in your household has been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

· If you or someone in your household has travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days.

Skaters must arrive at the entrance of the facility dressed. Skaters will not be allowed to change after entering the facility.

All skaters and coaches must wear a mask while in the building. Skaters are to take masks off when going on the ice for warm up or competition. Skater is to put their mask back on after completing their program and before sitting in the Kiss N Cry.

Skaters must have a back-up Music CD or USB with them at the boards while they are warming up or during the competition. The coach is to hold the back-up CD or USB in case there is a music problem. Cell phones and laptops will not be accepted as back-up music.

Skaters should have anything they require at the boards in a bag that their coach will hold. Only water bottles will be allowed to be placed on the boards. Skaters must bring their own tissues. No tissues will be provided. It is strongly recommended that skaters and coaches bring their own hand sanitizer.

Once skaters have finished their program and have exited the Kiss n Cry, skaters are to go directly to the dressing room and take their skates off and leave the building. Any cool downs or coach-skater debriefs are to be done outside.

One coach per skater will be allowed in the building and at the boards per warm up group. If a coach has two skaters in the same warm up group(not event) then two coaches can be at the boards etc... Unfortunately, due to gathering numbers this will be strictly enforced.

To help control the number of people inside the building, we ask all coaches to exit the building when you do not have a skater warming up or on the ice. Reminder to coaches and skaters that physical distancing should be maintained at all times and please refrain from hugging, high fiving and shaking of hands with other participants.

There will be no spectators allowed in the building to view the competition. The competition will be live streamed. The Live Stream can be accessed from the front page of the www.skatinginbc.com

Videos of your skaters competition can be purchased by clicking this link. Once the skater has finished competing a link to your skater's video will be emailed so that it can be downloaded on your computer. We highly recommend purchasing videos ahead of time.
